José Andrés is a chef, restaurateur and founder of the nonprofit organization World Central Kitchen.

If you travel to rural America after a hurricane or flood, you quickly realize that the natural disaster is only the latest catastrophe to strike the region.

 

Seven months ago, alongside many others, I helped deliver food and water to western North Carolina, where Hurricane Helene had caused devastating floods. Today, many of the affected communities are still struggling to recover, which is why we delivered RVs to area families earlier this month.
