Sam Chapple-Sokol is the Senior Editorial Director for José Andrés Media, focusing on José’s Substack newsletter, books, and other written projects. He’s worked in the José Andrés extended universe for 7 years, both with the restaurant group and World Central Kitchen. Before joining the team, Sam worked as a sommelier, a cheesemonger, a charcutier, and a pastry chef at the White House (during the Obama years!). Sam has a Masters degree in international relations from the Fletcher School at Tufts University, where his research focused on the intersection of food and diplomacy—he is a pioneer in the field known as culinary diplomacy. Sam co-authored the James Beard Award-winning The World Central Kitchen Cookbook, along with José Andrés.
